“Avengers: Endgame” Encore now has a confirmed theatrical date: Friday, September 25. It's the debut release for Disney's new “Infinity Vision” certification — a premium large-format standard requiring at least a 45-foot screen, Dolby-Atmos-level audio, and specific brightness minimums — which has already certified 75 theaters in the US and 300 internationally as of earlier this year.
The re-release adds several minutes of new footage that directors Joe and Anthony Russo say helps connect “Endgame” directly to December's “Avengers: Doomsday.” Tickets are already on sale, which settles the format and date questions — whether it becomes a genuine box-office story, as an earlier report speculated, is still separate and unconfirmed.
